Identity and Purpose

HAPPY EASTER!! THis wek was so amazing to reflect on the sacrafise of my brother jesus Christ. I know that Christ suffered for every one of my pains, temptations, and sins. Easter is the most important day of mankind. It is only through the resurrection and suffering of Christ that we can return to Jesus Christ!

It was another amazing week to be a missionary in the CDMX!
The last week we  got transfer news and Elder Smith and I are staying in Tepalcates! I was super excited because it is the first time I will be staying in the same area and having the same companion. So hopefully we have a good cycle!

Highlights:
-So this week was Holy week and wowww it is crazy over hear. I mean they go HAARRDDD for Holy Week. They had a full on reenactment of the crucifixion (Of a real man and a huge cross), they have pools set up everywhere to symbolize the resurrection of a holy body, and they have people sniping you with water balloons to show something about Jesus Christ(My companion and i have not found the symbolism of this one yet). Luckily we did not get hit by water balloons. But overall Holy Week was just razy. We were told to avoid a lot of the celebrations due to high level of drinking, but it was fun to hear about.
-It felt like everyone in teaching was kind of sick this week. Which sucked. But we found ways to be productive and it was fun getting to know some people.
-On Friday we ate like 5 meals from members or people in teaching. It just felt like everyone wanted to feed us that day.
-Honestly this week just zoomed by!

Story:

Spiritual Thought:
Over the past couple of weeks I have been really interested in our identity and our purpose. In a recent BYU devotional President Nelson (The prophet) was asked "How do we help those struggling with [addictions]" and I love his response! He said “Teach them their identity and their purpose.”

I have reflected on this response a lot and I think it applies to really any challenge in life. Just learn about your identity and purpose!

What is our identity?
We are Children of God! Literal children of a divine being! We have the capability of becoming like him! This does not mean we are the same as him right now. A pine cone is different from a pine tree, a seed is different from a flower, and a man is different from a God. it is not a matter of a difference of kind but rather of degrees. We can become like him through dedication and hard work. (Look at the pictures below to see bible verses of this potential)

What is our purpose?
It is put quite simply in 2 Nephi 2:27 "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy". We are on this Earth to obtain Joy. We obtain it through Christ.

I have foudn so much guidance from this advise from President Nelson. When we relieze our identity and purpose, we will overcome this fallen world. God loves us so he gave us a path.

I recommend you listen to the devotional by Tad R. Calister about our identity:
