Earthquakes and Angels of Pizza

 Overview:

Wow, this week went by fast! This was a crazy week we had splits, a baptism, gave my first talk, an earthquake happened, and it was Independence Day on Thursday(which meant they partied all week haha). Splits were super fun this week! I got to go with one of the Zone leaders named Elder Humphreys. We shared a bunch of similar interests and we had a ton of fun and talked a lot! If he eats too much sugar he falls asleep without control. Kind of crazy! One time he was eating dinner at a member's house and ate a piece of cake and passed out for 15 minutes. The member was very scared! We taught a blind lady which was interesting and really fun! She would feel our Hanks to know who we were and it was fascinating hearing the details she noticed in our hands! The baptism was awesome! Cesar is so amazing and the experience of baptizing him is one I will never forget! If you want to hear more about this experience please send me an email or a Facebook message and I would love to send you a voice recording of me explaining it! It was so spiritual! Although the biggest and most exciting part of my week was the baptism, for the rest of Mexico City it was Independence Day. They celebrate big here. We had to be back in the house by 6:00 because it gets crazy outside! I lost count of how many gunshots I heard. Also the music was so loud all night! It's just a constant party over here and I love it! We got invited to a celebratory dinner on Independence day. It was so good and they have never seen a white boy who handles spice like me! They kept on giving me hotter stuff and I kept on eating it. They're blown away. I love the food here! They feed us so well in the tacos and the meats and soups are so good! We also dressed up for this day which was really fun! My Spanish is getting a lot better! Which is good! We also had an earthquake today! It was such a weird feeling. Please pray for the families affected by it.

Funny story:

Crazy and funny story! After the baptism we had not eaten all day and it was 8:45 so both me and my companion were super hungry! We decided that we would go and get two Little Caesars pizzas! We were both really excited to enjoy this glorious meal. Our plan was to buy two pizzas. Because obviously one pizza would not fulfill our desires. We thought that each pizza would cost $80 pesos but when we got to the Little Caesars we realized that they actually cost $89 pesos. This made us especially sad because we only had 160 pesos. We had no idea what to do. We searched our bags for extra money and we found 14 more pesos. We were five pesos short. We kept on searching and searching…but the searches were to no aid. We were devastated! We came to the realization that we would sadly only be able to buy one pizza and end the night hungry! We waited in the line for 10 minutes, each minute hurting more and more as we searched desperately for five more pesos. When we finally arrived at the desk we started to order our one sad pizza. But out of nowhere a little girl runs into the store and gave me 20 pesos. I was shocked because nobody gives anyone anything in Mexico city. I said "Thank you" and turned to my companion to give him the 20 pesos to order the second pizza. When I turned back around the girl was gone! I ran outside to try to find her in the streets. But to my sadness I couldn't see her in the empty streets. Because of this girl's miraculous 20 pesos and her quite frankly crazy disappearance we have named her the angel of pizza. We went to be happy that night stuffed with the pizzas of an angel.

Spiritual thought:

My spiritual thought for this week is about Gods power. I read in Mormón 9 verse 20 it says "And the reason why God ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust." As I read this verse my Sister sent me a spiritual thought that centered around the idea that we should not put limits on a limitless God. I loved this. Do we really believe that God can move mountains for us? Do we really believe God could give us the power to heal the blind? I have heard all of these stories but to be honest I put a limit on God by thinking he could not perform this grand of a miracle in my life. I repented of this and am striving in believing he could perform ANY miracles in my life if it is needed!

I love each and every one of you and challenge you to read Moroni 9! It is such an amazing chapter!
