1st Week in the CCM

¡Hola! I am sorry if you sent me a message or email this week on Monday (the day that is typically pday when you are on a mission) I am not ignoring you! I just had to wait till today which is apparently the pday for the training center (that i currently reside at)! Anyway... Wow it's been over a week since I left the small amazing city of Medford Oregon and arrived in the hectic massive and beautiful city of Mexico Mexico City. Words can not describe the awww I had as it took 30 minutes to fly from one end of Mexico City to the other end of Mexico City! IT'S SO BIG! After arriving at México City my district and I with every other newb missionary were shipped to the CCM which is the México Spanish Training Center. Although we are locked inside this training center... It is amazing. We have everything here! Everything from Frisbee Golf to table tennis. But I have mainly found on the volleyball courts my new found passion for a sport. Also it has some stunning sunrises! (I'll have some pictures below). The Spanish Training here is intense but amazing! I have learned so much and I really have the gift of tongues to thank for that haha! I could go on and on about the fantastic CCM but I would hate to bore you with my first letter!

On the first day of arriving at the CCM, Elder Bess, one of the missionaries in my 12 person district, made a funny joke of our whole district buzzing our heads and having buzz cuts. What started out as a joke turned into someone pulling out clippers and started buzzing everyone's hair in our laundry room (fear not we made sure this was not against missionary standards). It took some convincing to get the last few elders to join in but we got them. So we all have buzzed hair. Obviously all other 800 missionaries in the CCM took notice and thought we were all quite bold. Our district is 5b but we developed the nickname District 5 Buzzed. And the only thing I can compare to what happened next is the Minions trend. Something that we didn't expect or deserve to blow up but absolutely did. Soon buzz cuts started to take over districts. One by one conquering luxuries locks of hair! Now almost half of all the Elders in the CCM have buzz cuts in all its magnificent glory! It's so funny and great! People always come up to us for advice about the buzz so what can I say we are buzz cut celebrities in the CCM HAHA!

Although the buzz cuts are funny, the sports are fun, and the people are awesome, nothing compares to the feeling of the Spirit in the CCM! It's constant and I love it! There are so many thoughts I would love to share but I'm going to settle with one of my favorite thoughts of these past two weeks (that I feel is appropriate to share over an email). In Alma 26 verse 12 it says "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."! This chapter in the Book Of Mormon has quickly become an Elder Bennion classic! I read this verse after feeling like someone had taken credit for an idea I had. I was frustrated that I hadn't received the praise of others and that I didn't get the recognition I thought I deserved. After I read this verse it put everything into perspective for me. I felt the Spirit testify to me that it all doesn't matter! Because guess what... in all things is Christ! and although I may have felt I came up with the idea, it was inevitably from Christ's promptings and blessings. It was a great reminder that everything I have right now and everything I will have in the future comes from Christ. I need to more often stop boasting about myself and boast more about God. It didn't matter that someone else shared that idea, in the end God's message was shared! And that is all that matters!

My District got to visit and go inside the Mexico Mexico City temple today! It is the biggest temple outside the US and it's BEAUTIFUL! It was such an amazing and spiritually uplifting opportunity! Definitely look up some fun facts about the temple because it has so many cool historical stories! I'll share some more photos from the trip next week!

God loves each and everyone of you on this email list! If you have made it this far in this email, I applaud you and invite you to kneel down tonight and ask God what he desires of you and what your purpose needs to be this week. Although I wear a tag as a missionary, every single one of us is capable of being a missionary of good! With the capability to share love and compassion! I know with Christ he can magnify your strengths and use them to bless others lives. Choose to share good things this week and to be kind to those you pass, that stuff matters more than you will ever know!

Lastly, quick shout out to my companion Elder Christofferson he's a homy and a giant of a man spiritually and physically!

I miss and love all of you! Have a great week and enjoy these photos! PLEASE WRITE ME! I LOVE HEARING FROM YOU GUYS! Or text me on Facebook messenger! Those messages mean so much to me! If I ever forget to respond, please know it was not on purpose!
